Each list has a settings menu (the sliders icon in the top-right of the list page) that controls how tasks are displayed for you. Changes apply only to that list.
View type
Switch between two layouts:
- List: a top-to-bottom view of all tasks. Best for reviewing, triaging, and working through items one by one.
- Board: a kanban-style column view where each column represents a group. Best for visualizing workflow stages or seeing work distributed by assignee or priority.
Group by
Grouping organizes tasks into sections based on a shared field:
| Option | What it does |
|---|
| None | No grouping; tasks appear in a flat list |
| Assignee | Tasks are grouped under each assignee |
| Status | Tasks are grouped by their workflow stage |
| Priority | Tasks are grouped by priority level |
In board view, Group by Status gives you a classic kanban board where
columns represent each stage of your workflow.
Sort by
Sorting controls the order tasks appear within each group (or within the full list when no grouping is applied):
| Option | Best for |
|---|
| Name | Finding a specific task alphabetically |
| Create date | Reviewing the newest tasks first |
| Start date | Seeing what should be starting soon |
| Due date | Prioritizing by deadline |
| Priority | Working through the most critical tasks first |
Choose ascending or descending direction alongside any sort option.
Show completed tasks
Toggle Show completed on or off to include or hide tasks that have reached a completed status. Turn it off to keep your focus on work still in progress, and turn it on when you need to review what’s been done.
Properties
The Properties section at the bottom of the settings menu controls which property badges are shown on task cards in the list.
The following properties can be toggled on or off:
| Property | What it shows on each task card |
|---|
| Assignee | The avatar of the member assigned to the task |
| Labels | Any labels attached to the task |
| Start date | The task start date |
| Due date | The task due date |
Any custom fields defined in the workspace also appear here and can be toggled individually.
Workspace default vs. list override
Property visibility works at two levels:
- Workspace default: set in Settings > Preferences, under the Properties section. Applies to every list that has not been customized individually.
- List override: set from the list’s own settings menu. When you toggle any property in a list, that list gets its own independent configuration and no longer follows the workspace default.
To go back to following the workspace default, click Reset to workspace default at the bottom of the Properties section. The list then inherits whatever the workspace default is, including any future changes made at the workspace level.
