How to edit a task

Open the task

Click the task title in any list, board, or view to open the detail panel.

Update any field

  • Click the title to rename it.
  • Change status, priority, assignees, or dates from the right-hand sidebar.
  • Edit the description using the rich text editor.

Changes save automatically

Every edit is saved instantly. You can close the task at any time without losing work.

Common edits

  • Change status: reflect real progress by moving tasks through workflow stages (“In review” → “Done”).
  • Reassign: hand off work when someone changes roles or a task moves to a new owner.
  • Update due dates: shift deadlines as timelines change, so calendar and timeline views stay accurate.
  • Move to a different list: reorganize work as project phases change or priorities shift.
  • Add labels: categorize tasks retroactively once you have more context (“bug”, “urgent”, “Q2”).

Build the update habit

A task that’s out of date misleads your team. After every standup, sprint review, or client call, scan the relevant tasks and update statuses and dates to reflect what’s actually happening. This takes two minutes and keeps everyone aligned without extra meetings.
